Dead trees reportedly caught fire outside the Kazakh capital, Kazinform reports.
Firefighters were dispatched to the scene of the reported fire at 9:12 am Astana time. The dead woods caught fire between Korgalzhyn highway and Kosshy by-pass motorway.
22 firefighters were summoned to the scene to extinguish the blaze.

Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on a series of traffic accidents involving a Kazakh citizen on the Thai island of Phuket, a correspondent reports.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan is aware of the detention of a citizen of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Thailand. Kazakh diplomats are in contact with the competent authorities of the host country and are providing the necessary consular assistance. Earlier, information about the incident emerged online. Reports said that a 30-year-old Kazakh woman had been driving erratically on roads across the island for several hours, colliding with other vehicles and attempting to evade pursuit.

In 2024, tourists were blamed for a wildfire on the Greek island of Hydra. According to local media reports, the fire was allegedly caused by fireworks launched from a yacht. A fatal road traffic accident occurred on June 21 on the Astana-Korgalzhyn highway. Three vehicles - a Kia, a Toyota Fortuner and a Toyota Land Cruiser - were involved in the crash, the Akmola Region Police Department reported.
According to preliminary information, two Toyota vehicles caught fire following the collision.
Five people were killed in the accident. Another five people sustained various injuries and were taken to hospital.

Dozens Hospitalised in Almaty Region After Visiting Sushi Café

Sixty-five people in Kazakhstan’s Almaty Region suffered food poisoning after visiting the Sushi Time café in the village of Boraldai, KTK television reported.
According to the regional health department, all of those affected had consumed sushi, pizza and other dishes at the establishment. Patients reported symptoms including nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting.
Thirty-six people are currently being treated at three hospitals across the region. Doctors have described their condition as stable. Another 29 patients are receiving outpatient treatment.
The café was temporarily closed following the incident.
Sanitary authorities have collected samples of food products and raw ingredients for laboratory testing and have launched an inspection of the café’s staff. The premises have been sealed pending the investigation.

US authorities have identified the individual whose body was previously discovered in the United States as Kazakh citizen Aset Kuralbay, Kazakhstan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Ventilation Duct Collapses Near People at Almaty Airport

An incident involving a ventilation structure occurred during installation work at Almaty International Airport, an agency correspondent reports.
A video from the scene was published on Telegram by journalist Mikhail Kozachkov.
The airport's press service said that a partial separation of a ventilation component - a flexible ventilation duct - occurred while engineering systems were being installed and the duct was being lowered below ceiling level.

Child Suffers Electric Shock from Power Line Pole Near Playground in Karaganda Region

A 10-year-old boy suffered severe electrical injuries after being electrocuted and falling from a height in the village of Dolinka in Kazakhstan's Karaganda Region. The child is currently in intensive care at the regional children's hospital, local media outlet ekaraganda.kz reported.
According to the victim's sister, who described the incident on social media, the accident occurred on June 1. She said the boy climbed a metal support structure of a 6,000-volt power transmission line located near a children's playground. After receiving an electric shock, he fell from the structure.
